# Bot settings

> Control where the bot works and who can teach it

Open **Bot settings** in the dashboard to configure how Relayn behaves on your server.

## Enabling and disabling the bot

The master switch turns the bot on or off for the whole server. When off, the bot ignores every message — useful during events, migrations, or while you rework the knowledge base.

## Channels to watch

The bot only answers in channels you explicitly select. Pick the places where members actually ask for help — `#support`, `#questions`, `#general` — and leave the rest unmonitored.

<Note>
  Fewer, well-chosen channels usually work better than selecting everything: the bot stays useful where it's expected and doesn't interject in off-topic chatter.
</Note>

## Trusted roles and users

Trusted members are the ones who can teach the bot through [auto-learning](/knowledge/auto-learning):

* **Trusted roles** — pick Discord roles (e.g. Moderator, Team). Anyone holding the role is trusted.
* **Trusted users** — additionally trust specific members regardless of their roles.

When the bot can't answer a question, only replies from trusted members are captured as new knowledge. Choose people whose answers you'd be happy to see the bot repeat verbatim.
